Je suggère, la
création d'une association des amis du lycée Cerveaux des
Oasis ... pour étudier ensemble les modalités de transformer
cet établissement en patrimoine de l'humanité.
Although
the courses given at the Brains of Oases High School are very
intensive ones, (more than 50 hours per week during 11 months),
we’ve always had extra time to play football every day at
the end of afternoon classes and also to help our parents with
different chores (well drilling, carrots harvest…) planned
by our wise father and mayor of the country Cheikh Mohamed
Lemine Ould Sidina, during the morning of every week-end.
I
think that we are the happiest High School students in the
world as we were able to undertake both useful and enjoyable
activities and break the myth of the Baccalaureate Exam, which
had spoilt the future of youths who had worked hard but
didn’t get the chance to study in a pedagogical system as
efficient as the one applied in the Oases of Brains High School.
Despite
these green aspects of our school life, it is important to
point out that we are one of the poorest High Schools of the
world in terms of furniture: we don’t have buildings (the
classes are private properties of pupils’ parents), nor do
we have any tables (the pupils sit on mats or tables borrowed
from the local primary school). We don’t have electricity
neither and don’t have any machines (no computer, no
internet), nor do we have permanent teachers (these latter are
recruited and get paid for 8 years now at the end of each
module from the headmaster and founder’s own funds).
This
is why I think that we have something that we can exchange
with the rest of the World: our pedagogical system experience
against material means available in big quantities in some
other parts of the World.
Our
unification in order to save these acquirements can be put
into reality by creating one main project: that is, the
creation of an international High School and University in the
Oasis of Maaden-El Irvane.
I
remember at the end of this module, our behaviours of 6th year primary school, had suddenly changed to a maturity
obtained and kept by a critical Brains, which is a must for a
rational reasoning, a stronger power of synthesis. All the
other modules seemed surprisingly easier to understand and to
acquire.
11
months later, all
the students in the class had succeeded to the Junior
Secondary School Diploma and the total number of those who
succeeded, had doubled that of the neighbouring Junior
Secondary School despite their complete scholar year lasting
three years.
This
success has added faith for our school among the Ministry of
National Education staff who agreed to start the second step
(senior secondary) in our school when Mister Cheikhany asked
for it to take place.
Owing
to the pedagogical system and since 1995, the Brains of Oases
High School, provides each year candidates to sit for the
Junior Secondary School Diploma
with a rate of success which sometimes doubles that of the
National One.
Today,
the former students of the High School are studying at most
foreign Universities at all levels: undergraduate, graduate or
doctoral levels. These students attend brilliantly their
courses despite their secondary school education time reduced
to three years instead of seven.
Introducing
the High School “Oughoul El Wahatt” or “Brains of Oases”
of Maaden El Irvane in the region of Adrar in Mauritania.
The
Junior and Senior Secondary School of Oughoul El Wahatt (Brains
of Oases) has conceived and applied a newborn pedagogical
system which makes it possible to shorten with a remarkable
efficiency the experience of Secondary Education from 2 to 3
years instead of from 6 to 7 years, at reduced costs both in
terms of time and money. It allows to make an annual saving
both for the students’ parents and the government’s budget
more than 70% on ordinary fees spent on secondary education.
And it also makes it possible at the same time to perform a
rate of success ranging from 50 to 80% instead of 6 to 20%
which was the case in the old pedagogical system as it was
know in the world.
The
school offers free intensive and continuous courses during the
11 months of the year (that is, from July 10th to
June 10th) since 1994 up to now, with 8 hours of
course on the average, totalling 2 200 hours per year, which
corresponds to the three years in Junior or Senior Secondary
School planned for by the Ministry of National Education.
This
system of education has synthesised the gist of three main
pedagogical systems: the English, the French and the Arabic
and Muslim systems in order to gather a strong dose of aimed
at values in a time of economic income increase, based on a
humanitarian principle.
The
former students of this school, at this time studying abroad
are almost all of them first grade winners of their classmates
although they have shortened their school year time and are
effectively very young (the ages at which they succeed to the
Baccalaureate Exam in this school are 15 years instead of 18
years which is usually the case in Government Schools).
The
pedagogical system of the High School of Maaden El Irvane
Oasis gives to the country and to the World an interesting
alternative of Secondary Education System reform which deserves at least to be studied.
Finally,
it is noteworthy that this private and free school has been
created, financed and conducted for 9 years by Mister
Cheikhany Ould Sidina (now “Hakem”, Prefect of Sebkha in
Nouakchott) as his personal contribution to the efforts of
spreading science and knowledge throughout the country which
is nowadays the principal longing for of the Government and
Mauritanian citizen.
We
all know that the initiator of this system has already
conceived and trained in the mid 80 ties the expansion of
motorised and irrigated agriculture then Prefect of Keur Macène,
and that in the mid 90 ties, he also was the one who
introduced new agricultural techniques for palm trees when he
was the president of the Non Governmental Organisation called
“SOS Palm trees”.
In
short, the pedagogical system of the “Brains of Oases” High
School, has met its goals in the best attainable conditions
and is willing today to share its experience with the country
and the whole world.
My
wish and hope is that this Web Site can open a new prosperous
situation for our school, our country and all the world.
